First of all, thank you for the great critique I appreciate every bit of it The idea for the shells was that since it was on the bottom of the journal it would be deeper into the water and it would be dark around there. That's why I made them less shiny and contrasting then they originally were as stocks. As for the attention to the title and menu you're really right. I didn't take this into account on the design and now that I look at it its missing out. I'll try to keep it in mind from now on -- Do something generous today. Who knows, you might like it very much. No worries, it's never to late for replies
Ah ok, yeah with that in mind it is ok, to have it darker. That's right That are things you can't see while looking at a layout, which is one of the reasons why i usually avoid to write critique. People who create something always have some intentions, but they don't share them all the time. At least the critique was a bit helpful -- *eCSSited | #GinkgoGarden |
The colors work very well together and create a nice mood when exploring what each deviant has to tell.
On the other hand the simple layout can let it be a bit boring when people are going to write a lot of text. Even more if they maybe will use just one box. But i guess most people are decorating their journals with a lot of images, icons and emotes, so that is really something minor.
So finally there are just two things i would suggest to improve a bit.
The first thing would be the bottom. I love the way you incorporated the shells, but they could be a bit lighter. It looks too similar, too blue, too equal. Maybe work a bit on the contrast, add some highlights and let them shine a bit more to pick up the "light theme" at the top and with the shiny headlines.
Talking of headlines it leads me to my second suggestion. When looking at this preview, they are the boldest part - together with the images.
Opposite to them the journal title and the menu seem to be rather unimportant, but should be a bit more dominant, because the journal title is that what will attract your watchers and random visitors, while the menu should be easily seen as something like that. So maybe a bit more of variety when hovering over those links would be nice or any other highlight that will catch more attention.
Hope it was useful and keep up the good work
