"Make your art a gift of inspiration to others to work towards better things."
Celebrating Diversity #40Sometimes it is good to step outside your comfort zone to be able to appreciate the other things life has to offer as well. Everyone of us has a preferred gallery or medium to work with. Today i am trying to ignore that and show you works you usually wouldn't find within my favourites or among my own works.
dArMC - November 2013edit: 10 days left to enter!
So far we have only one entry. So what are you waiting for?
Welcome to the deviantART related monthly challenges!
Each month you will be given a theme and two categories from the deviantART related gallery. You then have one month to create something for it. In which way you interpret the theme is up to you, but it has to be for one of the categories chosen.
For each category there will be one winner and one runner up.
Theme & Category
When working on your entries, try to be creative and don't just do the first thing you have in mind. Some categories will be more challenging than others - that's for sure - but maybe it's a good way to get out of your comfort zone and try something new. Maybe you will like it!
Your theme for November is:
Autumn / Fall
The categories you should create your entries for are:

Fellas World - Contest Contest ended -see the winners here http://fav.me/d7cqu2v.
We all know Fella and dA wouldn't be the same without him anymore.
But did you ever wonder who he really is? Where does he come from? Why is he alone?
He is always at our side, lurking here and there, making your dA experience a little brighter and introducing you to new things all the time.
Your mission is to show us the world of Fella.
How does he live? Does he have pets? Is he the only one or are there other 'creatures' like him? Does he come from a distant planet? Is he the result of an experiment?
What does he eat? Or maybe he doesn't need to eat at all?
What is he doing in his freetime? Does he like to cook or read a good book? Or is he more of an adventurer, exploring the world outside?
Below you can see a few artworks, that already show Fella working for dA or in random situations. Maybe these inspire you to come up with other details of his life.
Journal/Gallery Skins - A Compilation- - - - - - -
Every now and then the "someone is abusing my code" topic comes up again. Most of the journal/gallery skins that can be found on dA can be used for free.
But for free only means that you don't have to pay for it or only a small fee in case it is a Premium Content. It does not mean that you are allowed to do with it whatever you want.
Basically stick to: whenever you install a journal/gallery just use it for yourself. As soon as you want to make changes of any kind, get in contact with the original creator (unless they have some skin rules somewhere).
I have covered this topic several times already. Sometimes more in detail about what you can do or not, sometimes less detailed.
To avoid that i repeat myself again and again, i just collected everything related to this theme, but also other resources that help you to understand the whole topic of journal/gallery css.
If you have any suggestion/question related to this, either comment here or note me. Also feel free to
Celebrating Diversity #42As i really enjoy these 'Celebrating Diversity' articles i will be doing it once a month for as long as i have that little heart next to my name.
So expect more different art in the future.
Did you know? - DD related FAQsDaily Deviations (DDs) are a topic full of controversy. To raise awareness of what a DD really is and how people should act in case they disagree, let's take a closer look at the DD related FAQs.
This FAQ, as well as the group communityrelations, is your #1 resource for figuring out the right Community Volunteer or Staff member for your DD suggestions.
Additionally this FAQ lists some guidelines that apply for all possible DDs.
To quickly link someone to this FAQ type :faq18:
There is a lot of misconception floating around about what Daily Deviations are or should be. This FAQ gives you the explanation you should stick to.
Also keep in mind that nothing like "masterpiece", "best of the best", "perfect" or similar appears among the DD description.
DDs can be quite simple or extremely complex and detailed. They represent different styles, categories/galleries and me
Journal Skins - When will code be yours?A while ago it happened that i saw a journal skin that looked very familiar to one of mine. After checking the code i realized that it was my journal skin and only images have been replaced.
Because of that and after writing a journal to remind people that it isn't right to do something like that, i was asked when someone can call a journal code their own.
First i wanted to give an explanation via reply, but after thinking about it i realized that this can't be answered easily and should be available for more than one person to read (and to be found later again easily as well).
That's why i asked my watchers and maybe random guests who visit me to tell me when they would consider a journal as their own or when someone could claim such as own code.
To avoid that the answer to that question will reflect just my opinion i will highlight a few opinions from the feedback i got after stating my own point of view on this matter as well.
For those of you who already used a install skin to crea

Celebrating Diversity #31Once again I'm celebrating diversity! Last month I ventured into the Artisan Crafts gallery to find some pretty epic pieces of work. This month I'm wandering into Literature - Prose. The idea behind this series of Articles is for us to step outside of our comfort zones, venture into places we usually ignore because we either don't have the time - or we don't understand them. For me, Literature is a great solace, and I too often forget to wander through the literature gallery here on deviantART. Let's rectify that right now...
Text Art and Typography - August 2013Text Art and Typography Daily Deviations for August 2013 and other updates
Check out the newCRTextAndTypography Challenge
The main objective of this challenge is to evaluate the appropiate interaction between meaning, words, lettering and typefaces. The goal is to create a type treatment, or typographical logo, that focuses on one word or phrase as its main focus.
The idea is to find a movie or tv show logo that uses Trajan and give it a possibly more appropiate type treatment instead. You will find Trajan is used in a lot of movies and it has sort of become "The Hollywood Font".

Celebrating Diversity #38Wow, what a going This is already the 38th edition of the series and each of them did a great deal of showing how much awesome there is on dA
I still think, now even more so than before, that diversity is something good that should be celebrated. Not only in art, but in every day life. Differences are to be cherished and not be pursued. Don't be scared of something new, something you don't know. Keep an open mind and take in all the wonders this world has to offer
Don't stop exploring, don't stop discovering!

UPCOMING CONTEST:Detectives needed to solve murderThe King of Fairyland is seeking first-class detectives to solve a top secret case for the Monarchy. According to an inside source, a member of the Royal Family was brutally murdered last night, though the King has been loathe to comment on the tragedy. All Royal affairs seem secretive and obscure as darkness falls, both literally and figuratively, upon our magical kingdom. All we know is that a great search is underway for any and all detectives in Fairyland and surrounding regions. No doubt, the detective who successfully completes the unknown task to be set before him (or her) will be rewarded richly.
A successful detective will be secretive, able to work independently of others, and able to ask the right questions of the right people. He or she will need to know good from bad, right from wrong, lest they get tricked onto the wrong path. He or she will need to work quickly, as the King would like to wrap up this case within three we

dA Related Update - June 12, 2013Hi guys!
I have a few things to update you on this week.
This ^hat is super glued on
Twelve months ago, I was honoured to be given the responsibility of being a Community Volunteer for the deviantART Related gallery. My experience so far has been amazing; I have met some great people and the passion that the Community Relations team has for deviantART's community is more than I could have imagined.
Earlier this week Moonbeam13 invited me to join the Community Volunteer Mentor team. I (of course) said yes, as it was an opportunity I would never want to pass down. Being a part of the CR Team has changed me in many ways. As silly as it may sound, I feel like my confidence and leadership skills have flourished over time.
I will continue looking over the deviantART Related gallery. So continue sending those Daily Deviation suggestions my way!

Typo Feature: AmbigramsWelcome to today's Typo Feature!
In this ongoing series each article will focus on a specific theme and showcase deviations that manage to convey the theme in a special and great manner.
This feature's theme will be ambigrams.
Ambigrams are a subform of Caligraphy, usually keeping up the style of being drawn by brush or pen, but often with stricter, more geometric forms.
The most famous kind of Ambigrams are those, in which when rotated 180° you will see the same image. Another popular form are Mirror-Image Ambigrams, which result in the same artwork when flipped horizontally or vertically.
Some artists manage to place two words in one Ambigram. By rotating or flipping the artwork, a new word can be read.
There are many forms of ambigrams, some easier to create than others. Words can be natural rotational ("suns" or "pod") or mirror-image ("bud") ambigrams.
Ambigrams are popular elements in logo designs, as they give a high level of back detection from the
The Triumph ProjectDr. Maya Angelou, a literary and cultural luminary, died this Wednesday. While glowing words have and will continue to be spoken about her talent, activism, and dauntless spirit, she is honored especially for her body of work. She took her own suffering and the suffering of others and, through her words, transfigured that suffering into triumphant art.
Some of us in Community Relations invite you to participate in a new Project in remembrance of Dr. Angelou, one that grew out of a suggestion by Aeirmid. Together, we'll be creating art about triumph, be it personal, societal, or even hypothetical. At the end of the project, all deviations will be featured. This isn't a contest; it is a way for us to use our talents, following Dr. Angelou's example, to enrich our community.
What counts as triumphant? That's up to you. It could be a non-fiction biographical account of an historic leader, or an autobiographical poem about a personal moment of triumph.
Celebrating Diversity #26The idea behind the Celebrating Diversity Project is to post an article with deviations not from my area of expertise (Artisan Crafts) but from other Galleries that I almost never visit. This time I specifically searched for mediums that I enjoy but kind of forgot that I did.
Once again, I strongly encourage you to step out of your zone of comfort and take the time to discover or re-discover other types of art. The world is full of wonder and beauty, we just need to take the time and open our minds to see even more of it.
